October 23, 2026: Actor Rakhi Sawant has reportedly received relief in a long-running case linked to the alleged abetment of suicide of Laxman Ahirwar in 2010. A report published Friday says a court in Jhansi cancelled the non-bailable warrant after the defence submitted an Allahabad High Court order staying further proceedings.

    Why was a warrant issued?

Earlier reports said a Jhansi court issued a non-bailable warrant after Sawant repeatedly failed to appear in the case. The matter concerns allegations connected to remarks made during the television programme Rakhi Ka Insaaf. The allegations were made by the deceased man’s family and form part of the legal case; they are not, by themselves, proof of guilt.

    What changed?

The latest report says the defence relied on a High Court stay order when seeking cancellation of the warrant. Court orders and the status of proceedings can be complex, so the precise scope of the stay and any next hearing should be confirmed from the relevant court record or an on-record statement from the parties.

    What happens next?

Cancellation of a warrant does not automatically decide the merits of the underlying allegations. Further proceedings will depend on the applicable court orders and any subsequent directions. The case should be described as an allegation unless and until there is a final adjudication.
