Shah Rukh Khan’s 61st birthday has drawn warm wishes from colleagues across the Indian film industry, with filmmaker Atlee sharing a particularly personal message for the superstar. The director, who collaborated with Khan on the 2023 blockbuster Jawan, thanked the actor for guiding him through his cinema journey and described him as a mentor, guide and inspiration. The message has renewed interest in the actor’s upcoming projects, especially the action drama King.
Atlee’s birthday message
In a social media post reported by The Times of India, Atlee wished Khan a happy birthday and praised the song “Tu Mil Jaaye”. He also said he was looking forward to seeing the actor on the big screen again. Atlee reflected on the time he spent with Khan, saying the experience taught him lessons about cinema, people and humility. The filmmaker’s note highlighted the professional respect and personal warmth that developed during their collaboration.
Atlee’s message attracted attention because Jawan marked his Bollywood directorial debut and his first major collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan. The 2023 action thriller brought together Atlee’s energetic storytelling style and Khan’s dual-role performance as Vikram Rathore and Azad. The film also featured Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Deepika Padukone, with music by Anirudh Ravichander.
Jawan’s impact on the collaboration
Jawan became a major commercial success and helped establish Atlee as a filmmaker capable of working on a large Hindi-language production while retaining elements of his South Indian cinema style. Its mix of action, emotional drama and social themes generated wide discussion among audiences. The film’s success also created expectations around any future collaboration between the director and the actor.
Atlee is currently associated with his next project, Raaka, starring Allu Arjun, while Shah Rukh Khan is preparing for King. The two filmmakers have not announced a new film together, so fans should avoid treating birthday wishes as confirmation of another collaboration.
What is known about King?
King is directed by Siddharth Anand and is expected to feature Shah Rukh Khan alongside his daughter Suhana Khan in her theatrical film debut. The reported ensemble includes Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi, Rani Mukerji, Jaideep Ahlawat and Raghav Juyal. The film is currently scheduled for a December 24, 2026 theatrical release, according to the report.
The project has attracted interest because it brings Khan and Suhana together on the big screen for the first time. The Christmas release window also places it among the year’s major Hindi cinema events, although the final marketing campaign and release details will become clearer closer to the date.
A birthday moment that celebrates a film partnership
Atlee’s tribute is more than a routine celebrity greeting: it reflects the influence of a successful creative partnership. For fans, the message is a reminder of Jawan’s impact and a fresh reason to follow updates on King. The next major milestone will be the film’s official promotional material and confirmed theatrical information.
