Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed 25 years of continuous service as the head of a government, marking a political journey that began when he became Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001. He subsequently became Prime Minister in 2014 and is currently serving his third consecutive term. The Union Cabinet noted in June 2026 that Modi had completed 4,399 days as an elected Prime Minister, surpassing Jawaharlal Nehru’s previous record for consecutive service.

Over the years, successive governments led by Modi have introduced or expanded several welfare, financial inclusion, infrastructure and digital initiatives. Here are 10 major schemes and programmes associated with his tenure.

    1. Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana

    2. Swachh Bharat Mission

Launched in 2014, the cleanliness campaign focused on sanitation, toilet construction and reducing open defecation. The government reports that more than 70 lakh household, community and public toilets were built under the urban component alone.

    3. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

Ujjwala was introduced to expand access to LPG connections among eligible households, with a focus on reducing dependence on traditional cooking fuels. Government figures have put LPG connections under the scheme at more than 10 crore.

    4. Ayushman Bharat

The health insurance component of Ayushman Bharat, PM-JAY, was designed to provide financial protection for eligible families requiring hospitalisation. The government has highlighted coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year.
