Bengaluru, October 29, 2026: Nandini milk will cost more across Karnataka from November 1 after the state Cabinet approved an increase of ₹8 per litre. The decision is expected to affect household budgets as well as hotels, tea stalls, cafés and other businesses that use milk every day.
According to reports published on Thursday, the revised arrangement allocates ₹7 per litre of the increase to dairy farmers, while ₹1 per litre will go to milk cooperative societies. The government has presented the move as support for producers facing pressure from fodder costs and changes in milk procurement.
When does the new price take effect?
The price revision is scheduled to come into force on November 1, 2026. Consumers should check the price printed on the packet and announcements from the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) or their local milk union for the applicable rate of each Nandini variety.
Why has Karnataka approved the increase?
The reported reasons include the need to improve returns to dairy farmers and address difficulties in maintaining milk production. Dairy cooperatives depend on regular procurement from farming households, and changes to the amount paid for raw milk can affect rural incomes as well as retail prices.
What it means for households and businesses
Families that buy milk daily may see a higher monthly bill once the revised rates take effect. Food businesses may also review the cost of tea, coffee, sweets and other milk-based products, although any changes to their selling prices will be decided by individual businesses.
Buyers should avoid relying on unofficial price charts circulating online. Confirm the new rate with KMF, the local milk union or the printed retail pack before making a purchase.
