Bengaluru, October 29, 2026: Fortis Healthcare has acquired Suguna Hospital in Rajajinagar for approximately ₹277 crore in an all-cash transaction completed on October 28. The deal was carried out through International Hospital Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fortis.

The transaction includes Suguna Hospital’s business operations as well as the land and building. The facility, commissioned in 2006, has 110 operational beds and the potential to expand to around 150 beds.

Why Fortis is expanding in north-west Bengaluru

Fortis has described the acquisition as part of its cluster-focused strategy: building a stronger network in selected markets where nearby hospitals can potentially share clinical capabilities, operational support and other resources. Suguna Hospital is located on Dr Rajkumar Road in Rajajinagar, a densely populated part of the city.

With the acquisition, Fortis says its combined potential capacity across its Rajajinagar facility, People Tree Hospital in Yeshwanthpur and Suguna Hospital is about 500 beds. The company has also said its Bengaluru network has approximately 1,000 operational beds when facilities managed under operations-and-maintenance arrangements are included.

    What could change for patients?

Fortis has indicated plans to upgrade medical infrastructure, expand clinical programmes and add bed capacity. The pace and details of these changes have not been fully specified in the reports available today. Patients should confirm current departments, doctors, appointment arrangements and insurance acceptance directly with the hospital before visiting.

    Business significance

The deal gives Fortis an operating facility and an existing patient base rather than requiring a new hospital to be built from scratch. The longer-term effect will depend on how the facility is integrated and whether planned investment improves services and capacity without disrupting ongoing care.
