India’s primary market remains active, and investors are following new offerings, subscription updates and large proposed listings. But an IPO headline, oversubscription figure or grey-market premium should not replace a careful review of the offer documents.

    Check the official IPO timetable

Confirm the opening and closing dates, price band, lot size, investor categories, allotment schedule and listing date using the issuer’s official documents and exchange announcements. Dates and terms can change, so rely on current disclosures.

    What does subscription data mean?

Subscription data indicates demand relative to the shares available in different investor categories at a particular point in the bidding window. It can change during the issue and does not guarantee listing gains or long-term performance.

Should investors rely on grey-market premium?

Grey-market premium (GMP) is an unofficial indicator discussed by market participants. It is not an official exchange price, may be based on limited activity and can change quickly. It is not a reliable substitute for valuation analysis.

    Read the business and valuation

Consider the company’s revenue, profitability, debt, cash flow, competitive position, governance, use of proceeds and disclosed risks. Compare valuation with appropriate peers and assess whether the business can support its price over time.

    Listing gains are not guaranteed

Market conditions can change between application and listing. Apply only after understanding the potential loss, the use of funds and the time horizon that fits your finances. Do not borrow money or rely on social-media claims to chase a popular issue.
