Upendra Limaye is a renowned Indian actor celebrated for his versatility and impactful performances across Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam cinema. Born on November 8, 1969, in Pune, Maharashtra, he grew up in a culturally rich environment that nurtured his passion for acting. Upendra pursued his education at Lalit Kala Kendra, Pune, where he honed his craft and developed a strong foundation in theater.
He began his acting journey with experimental plays and later transitioned to films, making his debut in the Marathi movie Mukta (1994). Upendra gained widespread recognition for his role as Tayappa in the critically acclaimed Marathi film Jogwa (2009), which earned him the prestigious National Film Award for Best Actor. This achievement made him the first Marathi actor to receive this honor.
