Biography
S. J. Suryah, born Justin Selvaraj Pandian on July 20, 1968, is a multifaceted talent in the Tamil film industry.
His diverse roles include actor, lyricist, film director, producer, screenwriter, playback singer, composer, narrator, and philanthropist. Suryah initially aspired to be an actor but found success as a director.
His directorial debut, “Vaali” (1999), propelled him to stardom. Notable films he directed include “Kushi” (2000), “New” (2004), “Anbe Aaruyire” (2005), and “Isai” (2015). As an actor, he appeared in movies like “Kalvanin Kadhali” (2006), “Thirumagan” (2007), and played antagonistic roles in “Spyder” (2017), “Mersal” (2017), and “Maanaadu” (2021). His versatility earned him the moniker “Nadippu Arakkan” (the Demon of Acting).
Suryah’s journey from a physics graduate at Loyola College to a celebrated figure in Tamil cinema is a testament to his passion and talent.
