Biography

Rajiv Menon is an Indian film director, cinematographer, and producer. He has worked in many regional Indian film industries, including Tamil. His first national recognition came from his work on Asian Paints' "Pongal" commercial, which he directed, shot, and composed the music for. He is credited in 28 movies, including Kandukondain Kandukondain, Minsara Kanavu, and Sarvam Thaala Mayam. He has won several awards, including the 2014 Vijay Award for Best Cinematographer for Kadal and the 2001 Filmfare Award for Best Director – Tamil for Kandukondain Kandukondain. 

Menon was born on April 20, 1963 in Cochin, Kerala. He trained under cinematographer Garret Brown in America in 1984, and founded “Rajiv Menon Productions” (RMP) in 1986, where he began his career in TV commercials. RMP has produced over 300 commercials for leading brands in India. 

Menon has also collaborated with Mani Ratnam on other projects, including Bombay (1995), Guru (2007), and Kadal (2013). He has also directed two critically acclaimed Tamil films, Minsara Kanavu (1997) and Kandukondain Kandukondain (2000).
 
Menon is married to Latha Menon, and they have two children, Lakshmi Menon and Saraswathi Menon.
