Biography

Nag Ashwin Reddy, also known as Nag Ashwin, is an acclaimed Indian film director and screenwriter in the Telugu cinema industry. Born on April 23, 1986, he hails from a Telugu family and studied at The Hyderabad Public School in Hyderabad. After completing his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, he further honed his skills by attending the New York Film Academy for Film Direction.

Ashwin made his directorial debut in 2015 with the thought-provoking coming-of-age film “Yevade Subramanyam”, which garnered positive reviews and developed a cult following. His next project was the critically acclaimed biopic “Mahanati” (2018), based on the life of legendary actress Savitri. The film emerged as the highest-grossing female-led South Indian film and earned him the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu and the Filmfare Award for Best Director – Telugu.

Recently, Ashwin expanded into big-budget cinema with the science fiction film “Kalki 2898 AD” (2024). His journey from indie cinema to mainstream success showcases his versatility and passion for storytelling.
