His mother, Nutan, was a legendary actress who won several awards for her performances, including multiple Filmfare Awards. He made his debut in Bollywood in the early 1980s with the film "Bekaraar" (1983), directed by none other than his maternal aunt, Nutan's sister, Tanuja. However, it was his role in Sooraj Barjatya's iconic film "Maine Pyar Kiya" (1989) alongside Salman Khan and Bhagyashree that brought him widespread recognition.
