Biography
Jagadeesh, born P. V. Jagadish Kumar on June 12, 1955, is a renowned Malayalam film actor, screenwriter, and television presenter. He has appeared in over 400 Malayalam films, primarily known for his comedic and character roles.
Jagadeesh began his career as a bank officer before transitioning into academia as a lecturer in commerce. However, his passion for acting led him to Malayalam cinema, where he made his debut in My Dear Kuttichathan (1984), India's first 3D film. His breakthrough came with the role of Appukuttan in In Harihar Nagar (1990), which remains one of the most iconic comedy films in Malayalam cinema.
Throughout the 1990s, Jagadeesh was a bankable lead actor, starring in films such as Godfather (1991), Mimics Parade (1991), Sthreedhanam (1993), and Junior Mandrake (1997). He also contributed as a screenwriter, notably for Adhipan (1989).
Beyond films, Jagadeesh has been active in television and politics. In 2016, he contested elections under the Indian National Congress banner but was unsuccessful. His contributions to Malayalam cinema have earned him widespread recognition and respect.
