Biography

Gautham Vasudev Menon, also known as GVM, is an Indian actor, director, producer, screenwriter, composer, and playback singer. He was born on February 25, 1973 in Ottapalam, Kerala to a Malayali father and Tamil mother. He has worked in the Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi film industries, and is known for his films' depth and aesthetics, strong female characters, and urban casual wear. 

Menon has been nominated for several awards, including the Filmfare Award for Best Director – Telugu for Ye Maaya Chesave in 2011, and the Filmfare Award for Best Director – Tamil for Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada in 2017. He has credits in more than 60 movies, including Vaaranam Aayiram, Dhruva Natchathiram: Chapter One – Yuddha Kaandam, and Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. His upcoming movies include Rathnam. 

Menon started his career as an apprentice under filmmaker Rajiv Menon, and then worked as an assistant director for Minsara Kanavu, which was released in 1997 and featured a cameo from Menon. 

Menon is married to Preethi Menon, and they have three sons
