Bengaluru, October 23, 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of rain and thunderstorms across parts of Karnataka over the coming days. Residents should monitor local forecasts, especially if travelling during the weekend.
What the IMD warning says
The IMD’s subdivision-wise warning issued on October 23 lists heavy rain and thunderstorm activity for coastal and south interior Karnataka on Friday. South interior Karnataka also has a heavy-rain warning for October 24 and 25, while thunderstorms and lightning are forecast in parts of north interior Karnataka through the weekend.
The forecast is district- and time-specific, so conditions can vary between Bengaluru and neighbouring areas. An earlier report also noted isolated heavy showers or thunderstorms around Bengaluru through October 24.
What Bengaluru residents should do
- Check the latest IMD city forecast before travelling.
- Allow extra time for commutes if showers reduce visibility or slow traffic.
- Avoid waterlogged underpasses and do not walk or drive through flowing water.
- Secure loose outdoor items and stay away from exposed areas during lightning.
Will it rain through Sunday?
IMD’s October 23 outlook keeps the risk of heavy rain and thunderstorms in parts of Karnataka through Sunday, particularly south interior districts. Bengaluru’s conditions may differ from the wider subdivision warning; check updated local bulletins for the latest city-level forecast.
