Verity – Complete Details
Verity is a psychological erotic thriller based on Colleen Hoover's bestselling 2018 novel of the same name. Directed by Michael Showalter and written by Nick Antosca, the film follows Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who receives an unusual professional opportunity from Jeremy Crawford, the husband of bestselling novelist Verity Crawford. After an accident leaves Verity unable to continue writing, Lowen is hired to complete the remaining books in her successful series. She moves into the Crawford family's secluded home and begins examining Verity's unfinished work. During her stay, Lowen discovers a disturbing autobiographical manuscript containing revelations that force her to question everything she knows about the famous author and her family. As Lowen becomes increasingly drawn into the Crawford household, the boundaries between truth, fiction, manipulation and attraction begin to blur. Dakota Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, while Anne Hathaway portrays Verity Crawford and Josh Hartnett plays Jeremy Crawford. The film combines psychological suspense, mystery, erotic elements and family drama. Amazon MGM Studios distributed the movie in the United States and Canada, with Sony Pictures handling international distribution. Verity opened worldwide on October 2, 2026.
