Rukmini Vasanth is an Indian actress who primarily works in Kannada cinema and has also appeared in Telugu and Tamil films. She became widely recognised after her acclaimed performance as Priya in the 2023 romantic drama Sapta Saagaradaache Ello: Side A and Side B. Her natural screen presence and theatre training have helped establish her as one of the prominent young actresses in South Indian cinema.
Rukmini Vasanth was born on 1996-12-10 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. She comes from a family with a strong connection to the arts and the Indian armed forces. Her father, Colonel Vasanth Venugopal, was an Indian Army officer who was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra for his bravery during an operation in Jammu and Kashmir in 2007. Her mother, Subhashini Vasanth, is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and social worker who has worked to support families of soldiers.
Rukmini received her early education in Bengaluru, studying at institutions including Army School, Air Force School and Centre for Learning. She later moved to London to pursue professional theatre training at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Her formal theatre education gave her a strong foundation in acting, stage performance and character development.
She made her film debut with the Kannada movie Birbal Trilogy: Case 1 – Finding Vajramuni in 2019. However, her major breakthrough came with Hemanth M. Rao’s Sapta Saagaradaache Ello, where she played Priya opposite Rakshit Shetty. The film’s critical and commercial success brought her considerable recognition, and she won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress – Kannada for her performance.
Rukmini subsequently expanded her presence across South Indian cinema. Her notable projects include Baanadariyalli, Bagheera, Kantara: Chapter 1, Madharaasi and Toxic. Her performance in Kantara: Chapter 1 further increased her popularity, while her work in Tamil cinema helped her reach audiences beyond Karnataka. In 2026, she also joined the cast of the upcoming Malayalam film NP 51, marking her entry into Malayalam cinema.
Despite her growing popularity, Rukmini generally maintains a relatively private personal life. She has not publicly confirmed a spouse or marriage, and therefore her marital status is best described as unmarried/not publicly disclosed rather than assuming a relationship status.
