Ranbir Kapoor Opens Up About Playing Lord Ram
The BTS video focuses not only on Ranbir’s appearance as Lord Ram but also on the responsibility he associates with the role. The actor discusses approaching the character with the awareness that the Ramayana has a deep cultural and emotional connection with audiences.
Director Nitesh Tiwari also discusses the importance of casting the right actors for the film, while the video features Arun Govil, Sai Pallavi and Ravi Dubey sharing their perspectives on Ranbir and the characters they are portraying.
Arun Govil, who famously portrayed Lord Ram in the television adaptation of Ramayan, appears in the film as King Dashrath. His comments in the BTS video offer another perspective on Ranbir’s portrayal and the production’s approach to the epic.
International Action Training for Ranbir

Ramayana’s Star-Studded Cast
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The film is being produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
The project is planned as a two-part film, with Ramayana: Part One scheduled for a worldwide release during Diwali 2026, followed by Part Two during Diwali 2027. The films are also planned for an IMAX release and will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam in India.
