PhonePe has rebranded its homegrown Android app marketplace, Indus Appstore, as PhonePe Appstore, placing the platform under the company’s widely recognised brand. Announced on October 28, 2026, the change is more than a name update: PhonePe says the marketplace is expanding beyond app discovery to include games, gift cards, digital top-ups and a browser-based webstore.
What is PhonePe Appstore?
PhonePe Appstore is the new identity of Indus Appstore, the Android app marketplace launched by PhonePe in 2024. The company says the platform is now present on more than 200 million devices through partnerships with smartphone manufacturers. Its catalogue includes apps such as ChatGPT, Duolingo, ShareChat and Sony LIV, along with games including Honor of Kings and Hitwicket.
Apps, games and digital products
Users can continue to discover apps and games, while the expanded marketplace is intended to bring more digital products into one place. PhonePe says consumers will be able to access gift cards and top-ups with offers across categories. Gaming top-ups are expected to be among the first additions, with options such as in-game currencies and items planned as the feature set develops. Availability may vary as the service rolls out.
New webstore
Another important addition is phonepeappstore.com, a webstore that allows users to discover and purchase digital goods through desktop and mobile browsers without downloading a separate app. This could make the marketplace more accessible to users who want to browse products on a laptop or a phone browser.
