Prajwal Revanna Losses The Battle For Lok Sabha Election 2024 by 44,000 Votes

Prajwal Revanna, JD(S) MP for Karnataka’s Hassan constituency, faced a significant setback in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Despite being the grandson of JD(S) leader and former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda, he lost his party’s bastion by a margin of 44,000 votes. The election nullified his previous victory, marking a dramatic turn of events for the young politician.

Hassan has been a stronghold for the Gowda family for the past two decades. Deve Gowda himself represented the seat continuously from 2004 to 2019. However, Prajwal took over the reins and won the seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, defeating the BJP candidate by a substantial margin of over 141,000 votes, securing 52% of the votes. His victory was a testament to the family’s legacy in the region.

Unfortunately, Prajwal’s political journey took a dark turn. Explicit videos allegedly showing him sexually assaulting women surfaced on social media. The scandal led to his suspension from the JD(S) party, pending completion of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe against him. His subsequent arrest upon returning to India from Berlin further compounded his troubles.

Despite the controversy, Prajwal’s political career remains a topic of interest. As the only JD(S) MP from Karnataka in the Lok Sabha, his rise and fall have captured public attention. Now, with the nullification of his election, the political landscape in Hassan faces uncertainty, leaving room for new contenders to emerge.

Prajwal Revanna’s electoral defeat in Hassan reflects both the shifting dynamics of regional politics and the consequences of the scandal. His journey—from victory to suspension—serves as a cautionary tale for aspiring politicians, emphasizing the delicate balance between public trust and personal conduct.
