In a heart-wrenching incident at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, a stampede resulted in the deaths of 30 pilgrims and left 60 others injured and out of 3o deaths 25 bodies has been identified. The tragedy occurred during the early hours of Wednesday as millions of devotees gathered for the holy dip on Mauni Amavasya as per reports.
The stampede was triggered when barriers gave way under the pressure of the massive crowd, causing panic and a rush to escape the crowded area. Eyewitnesses reported that the situation quickly spiraled out of control, leading to the devastating loss of life.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have extended their condolences to the families of the victims and assured that immediate support measures are being implemented. The Chief Minister has advised pilgrims to take their holy dip at nearby ghats to avoid overcrowding at the Sangam.
Rescue operations are ongoing, and the injured have been transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of the remaining pilgrims and to prevent any further incidents.
