K. Annamalai Lok Sabha Election 2024 Results, Votes Details

K. Annamalai, a former IPS officer turned politician, contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Coimbatore constituency in Tamil Nadu. Representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he aimed to break the party’s southern drought. The BJP contested without its long-time ally, AIADMK, and made significant inroads. Axis My India’s exit poll predicted 2-4 seats for the NDA (BJP-led) and 33-37 for the INDIA bloc (comprising DMK, Congress, and the Left). Coimbatore, where Annamalai contested, was closely watched. 

In 2019, the DMK-led alliance won 38 out of 39 seats in Tamil Nadu. This time, the BJP allied with other regional parties, including Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar). High-profile constituencies included Thoothukudi, Nilgiris, Sriperumbudur, and Sivaganga123. K. Annamalai joined the police force in 2011, quit in 2019, and studied management at IIM-Lucknow. He made his Lok Sabha election debut as the BJP candidate from Coimbatore.


As of the latest updates, K. Annamalai, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu President, is trailing in Coimbatore during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His competition includes AIADMK leader Singai Ramachandran and DMK leader Ganapathy P Rajkumar1. Despite being a stronghold of the party, the AIADMK candidate is currently in third place with 8,572 votes. 

DMK candidate Rajkumar leads by a margin of 12,663 votes, having polled 25,558 votes, while Annamalai is second with 12,895 votes2. The DMK-led alliance is leading in 36 seats across Tamil Nadu at this time2. Stay tuned for further updates on the election results!
