India Cancels Visas for Pakistani Nationals, Orders Evacuation Within 48 Hours

In a decisive move following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, India has announced the cancellation of visas for Pakistani nationals and issued an ultimatum for them to leave the country within 48 hours. The attack, which claimed 26 innocent lives, has sparked outrage and led to strong diplomatic measures against Pakistan.

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) declared that all visas issued under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme are now invalid. Pakistani nationals currently in India have been instructed to exit the country by May 1, 2025, through the Attari integrated checkpost, which will remain open for this purpose. Additionally, India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960, citing Pakistan’s alleged support for cross-border terrorism.

Diplomatic ties have also been scaled down, with India reducing the strength of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi from 55 to 30 personnel. Similarly, Indian advisors in Islamabad are being withdrawn, signaling a significant escalation in bilateral tensions.

This move reflects India’s firm stance against terrorism and its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens. The government has called for global solidarity in condemning terrorism and holding its sponsors accountable. As the nation mourns the loss of innocent lives, these measures aim to send a strong message against acts of violence and terror.
