Her father is businessman Jagdeep Advani and her mother is Genevieve Advani. She also has a brother named Mishaal Advani.

Kiara studied at the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai and later attended Jai Hind College, where she completed her degree in Mass Communication. Before entering films, she briefly worked as a teacher at a playschool run by her mother. Her early interest in performing eventually led her toward acting.

She adopted the screen name Kiara before entering the film industry. Kiara made her Bollywood debut with the 2014 comedy film Fugly. Although the movie did not achieve major commercial success, she continued working toward establishing herself as an actress.

Her breakthrough came with M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story in 2016, in which she portrayed Sakshi Singh Dhoni. The success of the film significantly increased her visibility and introduced her to a wider Hindi-film audience. She subsequently appeared in projects such as Machine and the Telugu film Bharat Ane Nenu, expanding her presence beyond Bollywood.

In 2018, Kiara received attention for her performance in the Netflix anthology Lust Stories. Her career reached another important stage with Kabir Singh in 2019. The film became one of the year’s major commercial successes and established Kiara as a leading actress. She also appeared in the successful comedy Good Newwz the same year.

One of her most acclaimed performances came in Shershaah in 2021, where she played Dimple Cheema opposite Sidharth Malhotra. The film became an important milestone in her career and also brought her closer to Sidharth Malhotra, whom she later married.

Kiara continued her successful run with films including Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Jugjugg Jeeyo and Satyaprem Ki Katha. She has also been associated with major projects including Game Changer and Toxic. Her career has increasingly included high-profile commercial productions alongside performance-oriented roles.

Kiara married actor Sidharth Malhotra on February 7, 2023, in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Saraayah, in July 2025. In October 2026, Kiara and Sidharth announced that they are expecting their second child.
