Veteran Telugu actor and YSR Congress Party member Posani Krishna Murali was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police at around 8:45 pm on February 26. The arrest took place at his residence in Hyderabad, following a case registered against him at the Obulavaripalli police station. The charges include sections 196, 353(2), and 111, read with section 3(5) of the SC/ST Act.
The actor has been taken into custody and will be produced before the Additional Magistrate in Rajampet. The case was filed against him for allegedly making derogatory comments against a particular community, which led to creating discord among groups. The arrest notice was served to Murali's wife, and despite his claims of being unwell, the police proceeded with the arrest.
Posani Krishna Murali is known for his comedy and character roles in Telugu cinema. He has previously faced legal trouble, including a case in November 2024 for making derogatory comments against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
