Veteran Actor Dharmendra Summoned in Cheating Case Related to Garam Dharam Dhaba Franchise

Delhi’s Patiala House Court has issued summons to veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra and two others in a cheating case linked to the 'Garam Dharam Dhaba' franchise. The summons followed a complaint filed by Delhi businessman Sushil Kumar, who claimed he was misled into investing in the franchise.

As per Sushil Kumar's complaint, in April 2018, Dharmendra’s associates approached him with an enticing offer to open a 'Garam Dharam Dhaba' franchise on NH-24/NH-9 in Uttar Pradesh. He was assured a seven percent profit and full support in establishing the franchise. However, after investing ₹63 lakh and purchasing land for the venture, Kumar alleges he received no assistance and instead faced threats from the accused.

The court noted that the evidence suggests the accused induced the complainant, seemingly with a common intent. The next hearing is scheduled for February 20, 2025.

This case, involving one of Bollywood’s iconic figures, underscores the need for transparency and accountability in business dealings, particularly in franchise agreements.
