Bengaluru: Six Arrested In Honeytrap Case By Hebbal Police

In a recent incident in Bengaluru, Hebbal police arrested six individuals—four women and two men—for allegedly orchestrating a honeytrap scheme under the pretense of arranging a bride. The accused have been identified as Geetha, Manjula, Vijayalakshmi, Leelavathi, Harish, and Venkatesh.

According to reports, the victim, a young man seeking a bride, became acquainted with Manjula. Upon expressing his interest in finding a suitable match, Manjula offered to introduce him to a prospective bride. On January 20, she invited him to her friend Vijayalakshmi's residence in Hebbal, where he was introduced to Leelavathi.

After the introduction, Vijayalakshmi excused herself, leaving the victim alone with Leelavathi. Subsequently, Geetha, Harish, and Venkatesh entered the scene, posing as police officers. They accused the victim of engaging in illicit activities and threatened to arrest him. Fearing legal repercussions, the victim transferred ₹50,000 to the impostors via PhonePe.

Realizing he had been deceived, the victim filed a complaint with the Hebbal police. Following an investigation, authorities apprehended all six individuals involved in the scheme.

This incident underscores the importance of exercising caution when engaging with unfamiliar individuals and highlights the need for vigilance against such fraudulent activities.
