With rising fuel costs and increasing demand for economical commuting, CNG cars remain a popular choice among Indian car buyers. In 2026, buyers with a budget of ₹10 lakh can choose from hatchbacks, compact sedans and other practical models. The CNG segment now includes options offering strong fuel efficiency, modern features and, in some cases, automatic transmissions.

Here are some of the notable CNG cars to consider under ₹10 lakh.

    1. Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 CNG

The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 remains one of the most affordable CNG cars in India. Its LXi (O) CNG variant is listed at around ₹4.84 lakh ex-showroom, while the VXi (O) CNG is priced around ₹5.32 lakh. The 1.0-litre CNG engine is particularly suited to city commuting, and the model offers claimed efficiency of up to 33.9 km/kg.

    2. Maruti Suzuki WagonR CNG

The WagonR CNG combines a tall-boy design with a spacious cabin and economical running costs. Its CNG variants are priced from roughly ₹5.94 lakh, with the VXi CNG around ₹6.49 lakh ex-showroom. Maruti’s 1.0-litre S-CNG version has historically offered claimed efficiency above 34 km/kg.

    3. Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG

The Celerio CNG is another fuel-efficiency-focused option. It offers a compact footprint, making it suitable for urban traffic and parking. Its CNG powertrain is paired with a manual gearbox, while the petrol version also offers an automatic option. The Celerio is particularly relevant for buyers who prioritise running costs over outright performance.

    4. Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG

For buyers looking for a sedan, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG is one of the prominent choices below ₹10 lakh. The VXi CNG starts at around ₹8.18 lakh, while the ZXi CNG is listed at approximately ₹9.19 lakh ex-showroom. The 1.2-litre S-CNG sedan offers a larger cabin and boot-oriented sedan design while keeping fuel costs comparatively low.

    5. Tata Tiago iCNG

The Tata Tiago iCNG is an alternative for buyers who want a CNG hatchback with a different combination of styling, features and safety equipment. Tata introduced the Tiago iCNG with a 1.2-litre engine, and the range has also been offered with an AMT gearbox, giving buyers an automatic CNG option. Tata quoted a CNG efficiency figure of 28.06 km/kg for the Tiago iCNG AMT.

How Much Can You Save With a CNG Car?

Actual savings depend on CNG prices, daily driving distance, traffic conditions and real-world fuel efficiency. CNG generally costs less per kilometre than petrol, particularly for high-mileage users such as daily commuters and fleet operators.

However, buyers should also consider the higher purchase price of CNG variants, availability of CNG stations and the reduced luggage space in some models. For frequent city driving, a CNG car can make financial sense when the additional upfront cost is recovered through lower running expenses
