Bengaluru is witnessing another spell of rain, with heavy showers reported across several parts of the city and waterlogging affecting traffic movement. The latest weather update comes as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts more rain and thunderstorms for Bengaluru, with strong gusty winds possible on Tuesday, September 22.
The rain has once again raised concerns among commuters, particularly in areas where roads and underpasses are prone to water accumulation. Recent heavy rainfall in Bengaluru has already caused traffic disruptions and waterlogging at several important stretches, including parts of Hebbal, Koramangala, Jayanagar, Rajajinagar and other areas.
Bengaluru Areas Affected by Rain
According to the weather graphic, areas listed as affected include Uttarahalli, Banashankari, Subramanyapura, Hebbal, Jayanagar, Shantinagar, KR Market, Rajajinagar, Vijayanagar and Koramangala and surrounding areas.
Several of these neighbourhoods are located along busy residential and commercial corridors, meaning heavy rainfall can quickly result in slower traffic and longer travel times.
The city has experienced similar disruptions during recent spells of intense rain. On September 16, heavy showers resulted in waterlogging across several parts of Bengaluru, while traffic movement was affected around areas including Hebbal, Koramangala, Jayanagar, KR Puram, Whitefield and other major corridors.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast for September 22
The IMD’s Bengaluru city forecast issued on September 21 indicates rain or thundershowers with strong gusty winds on September 22, along with a possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. The forecast lists temperatures around 21°C to 31°C for the day.
The broader IMD warning for South Interior Karnataka also indicates heavy rain and thunderstorms on September 21 and September 22, with very heavy rain forecast for September 23 and September 24.
Traffic and Travel Advisory for Bengaluru
With more rain expected, commuters may face delays, especially during peak office hours. Motorists are advised to be cautious around low-lying roads, underpasses and stretches that regularly experience water accumulation.
Residents should also watch for fallen branches, slippery roads and reduced visibility during intense showers. People travelling during thunderstorms can consider checking weather and traffic updates before leaving and allowing additional travel time.
