Anirudh Ravichander is one of the most recognisable contemporary music composers and playback singers in Indian cinema. Working primarily in Tamil films, he has also contributed to Telugu and Hindi projects, building a signature sound that blends electronic production, rhythmic hooks and contemporary pop influences.
Early life and family
Born in Chennai in 1990, Anirudh comes from a family connected to the arts. His father is actor Ravi Raghavendra and his mother is Lakshmi Ravichander. He studied music and developed his interest in composition before moving into feature films. His early work drew attention for its youthful energy and distinctive production style.
Breakthrough with Why This Kolaveri Di
Anirudh’s major breakthrough came with the 2012 Tamil film 3, for which he composed the viral song “Why This Kolaveri Di.” The track travelled far beyond its original audience and helped establish him as a composer to watch. The success opened the door to projects with leading actors and directors.
Major film soundtracks
His later work includes popular songs and scores from films such as Kaththi, Master, Beast, Jailer and the Hindi film Jawan. Songs such as “Vaathi Coming,” “Arabic Kuthu” and “Chaleya” helped broaden his audience across language markets. He is known for combining catchy melodies with large-scale sound design suitable for theatres and streaming platforms.
Working style and popularity
Anirudh’s music often features high-tempo arrangements, memorable choruses and a strong sense of rhythm. He has collaborated with established performers and filmmakers, while his live concerts and independent releases continue to attract attention. His work on star-driven action films has made his background score an important part of the cinematic experience.
Why his name is trending
In October 2026, Anirudh’s name became a major search topic after reports linked him to a possible wedding reception with Kavya Maran in Chennai. News outlets reported that invitations had reportedly been extended to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, though coverage differed on the reception date. His earlier public response in 2025 asked people to stop spreading marriage rumours, and neither Anirudh nor Kavya has published a comprehensive announcement confirming all the details circulating online.
The most reliable way to follow developments is through direct statements, established news organisations and official event information rather than viral posts. Anirudh’s professional catalogue remains the best-documented part of his public profile.
