Honda has expanded its adventure motorcycle portfolio in India with the launch of the Honda XR300L, a new dual-purpose motorcycle designed to combine everyday usability with genuine off-road capability. Priced at Rs 1.83 lakh (ex-showroom), the XR300L enters the growing lightweight adventure and dual-sport motorcycle segment.
The motorcycle is aimed at riders who want something more capable than a conventional commuter but lighter and easier to manage than larger adventure tourers. Honda describes the XR300L as a machine developed for both weekday city riding and weekend trail adventures.
Honda XR300L Engine and Performance
The XR300L is powered by a 293.5cc single-cylinder petrol engine featuring air cooling with an oil cooler. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, giving riders greater control across different riding conditions. Available specifications indicate around 26.9 bhp of power and 26.6 Nm of torque.
Unlike heavier adventure motorcycles, the XR300L focuses on a relatively simple and lightweight dual-sport formula. This should make it easier to handle on narrow trails, rough roads and everyday city streets.
Suspension and Off-Road Hardware
Off-road ability is one of the motorcycle’s biggest highlights. The XR300L gets long-travel suspension, spoke wheels and dual-purpose tyres. It also features a Pro-Link rear suspension setup, while braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends.
The motorcycle comes with dual-channel ABS, with switchable ABS functionality aimed at giving experienced riders additional control when riding off-road. Honda has also equipped the bike with selectable torque control.
Design and Practicality
The XR300L follows a slim, functional design rather than the bulky styling associated with larger adventure motorcycles. Its tall stance, raised front section, spoke wheels and long-travel suspension give it a distinctive trail-bike appearance.
The motorcycle is offered in colour options including Extreme Red and Shasta White.
Honda XR300L Price in India
The Honda XR300L is priced at Rs 1.83 lakh ex-showroom in India. The price makes it an interesting proposition for buyers considering lightweight adventure motorcycles and dual-sport bikes.
Honda is also offering the XR300 Rally, a related motorcycle focused more strongly on long-distance trail touring. The Rally version is priced higher, at around Rs 2.08 lakh ex-showroom.
Is the Honda XR300L Worth Buying?
With its 293.5cc engine, long-travel suspension, spoke wheels, switchable ABS and relatively accessible price, the XR300L brings a more purpose-built off-road character to Honda’s Indian lineup. It could appeal to riders looking for a motorcycle that can handle city commuting during the week and trails on weekends.
At Rs 1.83 lakh, the Honda XR300L could become a compelling alternative for riders who prioritise light weight, off-road capability and Honda’s established engineering over outright touring comfort.
