Government job aspirants in Punjab have received a major recruitment update. The Punjab government is planning to recruit around 10,000 personnel for the Punjab Police, creating a significant opportunity for candidates looking for police and government jobs in 2026. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced the recruitment drive during a meeting with Punjab Police officers at the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Police Academy in Phillaur.

The proposed recruitment is part of the state’s broader effort to strengthen law enforcement and intensify action against drug trafficking, organised crime and cross-border smuggling.

While the government has announced the overall figure of approximately 10,000 new personnel, the complete post-wise vacancy list has not yet been released.

At present, the announcement specifically includes 450 direct Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) positions, while around 3,400 police personnel are already undergoing training. The remaining vacancies and their respective designations are expected to be detailed in the official recruitment notification.

Why Is Punjab Recruiting 10,000 Personnel?

The recruitment drive comes amid the Punjab government’s campaign against narcotics and organised criminal networks. The government has also highlighted the need to strengthen policing infrastructure in areas affected by drug trafficking and cross-border smuggling.

Punjab shares a 553-kilometre international border with Pakistan, making surveillance against drone-based smuggling an important security priority. The government has said that modern technology, including anti-drone systems, CCTV networks, artificial intelligence and upgraded vehicles, will complement the additional manpower.

Eligibility, Age Limit and Selection Process

Candidates should note that the official eligibility criteria have not yet been released for the proposed 10,000-post recruitment.

The detailed notification is expected to provide information about educational qualifications, age limits, application fees, physical standards, examination pattern, selection stages and important dates. Therefore, candidates should avoid relying on unofficial vacancy lists or eligibility claims until the Punjab Police recruitment notice is published.

The recently conducted Punjab Police Constable recruitment is a separate recruitment process. Its 2026 results were released recently, with candidates moving toward subsequent physical and document-verification stages.

    What Candidates Should Do Now

Aspirants interested in the upcoming recruitment should begin preparing for written examinations and physical tests while waiting for the official notification. Candidates should also keep their educational certificates, identity documents and other required records ready.

Once the Punjab Police Recruitment 2026 notification is officially released, applicants should carefully verify the post-wise vacancies, eligibility requirements and application deadline before submitting their forms.

With around 10,000 positions planned, the recruitment could become one of Punjab’s major government job opportunities, particularly for candidates preparing for police and other uniformed services.
