Tamil actor Karthi’s Sardar 2 is officially heading to the OTT platform following its theatrical release earlier this month. The action-packed spy thriller, which also stars Ashika Ranganath, S. J. Suryah and Malavika Mohanan, will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video from October 1, 2026. Prime Video confirmed the release through a promotional announcement featuring Karthi and Ashika Ranganath.
Sardar 2 OTT Release Date and Platform
Sardar 2 will premiere on Prime Video on October 1, 2026. The announcement was made on September 28 through the streaming platform’s social media channels, using a spy-themed “mission brief” promotional video.
The film is scheduled to be available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi, making the sequel accessible to audiences across several major Indian-language markets.
The digital premiere comes just weeks after Sardar 2 arrived in cinemas on September 10, 2026. The relatively short gap between theatrical and OTT releases is expected to bring the film to viewers who missed its cinema run.
Karthi Returns in Dual Roles
Directed and written by P. S. Mithran, Sardar 2 continues the story established in the 2022 film Sardar. Karthi once again appears in dual roles, portraying veteran spy Sardar and his son Vijay Prakash.
The sequel expands the franchise into another spy-action storyline, with Vijay becoming involved in a dangerous mission while the events surrounding his father’s past become increasingly important to the narrative. S. J. Suryah plays the antagonist, while Ashika Ranganath and Malavika Mohanan are among the key members of the cast. Yogi Babu, Rajisha Vijayan and other actors also feature in the film.
What to Expect from Sardar 2
The movie combines espionage, action and thriller elements, with the story moving between different time periods. The film’s official synopsis centres on Sardar’s origins and his son Vijay’s confrontation with the villain known as Black Dagger.
